Class Descriptions

All of our classes are designed to be appropriate for boys and girls alike and provide individualized attention and scaffolding for students based on their ability level. Classes are timed to be engaging and allow students to experience something new or build on prior knowledge.

Afternoon Sessions

Learn to Code with Scratch

Can you make your name dance, create your own character and make it climb a tree! You can do all this on a computer with coding! By the end of this class, you will be ready to start creating your own video game!

Make it with Makey Makey

Makey Makey is an invention kit where you can turn ordinary tools and trinkets into board games, mousetraps, music machines, and Smart Houses, complete with buzzers, dings, and switches enhanced with the electrical circuitry of the MakeyMakey device.

Tie-Dye

Learn about different techniques and patterns used to create tie-dye. Bring in your own towels, socks, shirts and more. For those who took this class last year, different techniques and styles will be used this year.

LEGO Mini Masters

Do you think you have what it takes to be a LEGO Mini Master? Compete in LEGO based challenges in groups, individually, and against your friends. Who will build the tallest tower? A bridge that holds cars? Or the best design for a robot? Let's see who can win the title of LEGO mini master!

Let's Get Messy

In this class you will create items to take home using various mediums including ink, spray paint, and tie dye and other "messy" techniques. Prepare to have fun while getting your hands a little dirty.

Chemistry Experiments

Learn the basics of chemistry and conduct safe and fun experiments with matter, gases, and chemical reactions. You can learn how to duplicate these experiments at home for friends and family.

Junior Engineers

This class will introduce participants to the basics of the engineering design process. You will participate in design challenges and build upon your engineering skills through competitions using household items - some challenges will even be edible.

Space Engineering

Go from the basics of flight, creating paper airplanes, to creating and launching your own solid fuel rocket. We will practice making predictions and using the engineering process throughout space-themed activities during this class. Students will launch, and if recovered, take home the rockets they create.

Morning Sessions

Robotics

Robotics for students with or without prior experience. VEX IQ (plastic) robots and curriculum will be used. Students will learn about the basics of design, the engineering process, and programming.  Students can take one or both classes, the curriculum will be modified based on each student's experience and ability level.  Students that take both sessions will move to more advanced topics in the second class.

Art and Design through 3D Modeling and Printing

Students will get the opportunity to use TinkerCAD and Solidworks to create 3D designs. Students will then get to print their designs on our 3D printers. Students/parents will get a link to our 3D print live stream to see what is currently being created on the printer. Class size is limited. Students can take both sessions, the curriculum will be adjusted for students attending both sessions 1 and 2.  (different projects)
